2226 sets new standards in cost, energy and space efficiency. Even just considering the costs, 2226 outperforms a standard building. Life cycle costs (50 years) are half the amount and yearly energy usage with 45 kWh/m² is less than a third of most buildings. Only a few square meters of a precious living area is sacrificed to home technology. The secret is in the software which is housed with very little hardware in a small server box. Further building blocks for a solid investment are traditional building methods with tried and tested building materials and flexibility of use. If the usage of the building has to be changed, space can be adapted easily.

Fresh Air In Every Room

 

Air quality is often inadequate in conventional buildings especially during winter when heating is required and in the summer when the air conditioner is in use. Residents and other occupants of a 2226 building can breathe untreated fresh air all year round. Temperature, humidity and air quality are naturally maintained within the comfort zone. Sensors register rising CO2 levels and windows open automatically even before the room gets stuffy. The structural mass and surface area of the massive walls equalises fluctuations in air humidity. Of course, it is always possible to open a window whenever you feel like it. The house doesn't determine a person's behaviour, a person's behaviour determines the house.

MORE DAYLIGHT DUE TO SMALLER WINDOW AREAS

 

The window surface area of a 2226 building is large yet somewhat smaller than is usual in houses today. More light is gained through clever placement and dimensioning of windows. Even at the height of summer, it isn't necessary to shade or use artificial lighting. 2226 lets in natural daylight without direct sunlight that may overheat the interior.
